The Landing Dockside Wedding of Denelle and Matt
I find writing the hardest thing ever, it doesn't come naturally to me and some blog posts can take me days if not weeks to write, and hope that its not boring. I don't want my blog posts to be the same old "the weather was great we went here and here for photos" So I have asked for help from my couples to tell their story. The most memorable thing about Denelle and Matt for me is their love, (cliche I know) but not only to each other but to their family and friends, the kind nature in which they approached all the people they meet. They giggled and laughed their way through a day full of beautiful moments mixed in with a stack load of friends and family to help them celebrate it.
How did you meet? What was the first thing you noticed about each other?
We met the old fashioned way, by online dating. Matthew couldn’t resist my smile. :) He asked me out to my all time favourite movie (got extra point for that) The Notebook on Valentine’s Day. Then the story started. From the first moment Matt and myself felt like we had known each other a life time. We are two perfect matches.
When he proposed what were you thinking? and how did he do it?
Matthew planned the proposal for months at Heston Blumenthal’s restaurant in Melbourne, The Fat Duck. I had no idea what was going on. We had a tour of the kitchen and met Heston’s Head Chef and his team, which I thought was totally normal. I found out later it was not. Then the next course was to come out and all the wait staff surrounded the table and lifted the plate cloche at the same time to reveal the ring. It took me to look around and see Matthew getting on one knee to know that he was proposing to me. I don't believe I even said yes as I was too busy crying and kissing him to say anything, much like the whole wedding day just a day filled with me crying tears of happiness
Where was your ceremony? Where was your reception and why did you choose it?
We chose The Landing at Dockside to be our ceremony and reception location. We picked it because of the location and atmosphere. We wanted the day to be stress be free and relaxing for not only Matthew and myself but also for our guests. The Landing offered a back drop of the river and the beautiful Story Bridge for our ceremony.
Was there any unique or funny moments that stood out in your mind about the day?
We created a reflection of our love for each other. We had a love filled day with funny moments that matched both of our personalities
Any advice for future couples?
Take in every moment and enjoy the time with each other on the day because the day will be over before you know it. It takes a year to plan and a second to be all over.
